One of the most frequent questions that friends ask me is how much they should spend on a diamond engagement ring. The obvious answer to which is to tell them all about the diamond engagement ring that I’ve been dreaming about, and to go on and on about all the details of the custom diamond engagement ring that Wink is going to have to design for me, and to inquire as to whether they bought a lottery ticket this week, because they’re probably going to need it!
Which is usually followed with a rather blank stare, indicating confusion and overload, and their muttering something about the ring not being for me… It’s tragically disappointing and I don’t know how much more rejection I can take, so I was deeply relieved when Ritani published this graphic demonstrating their estimates of what people spend on a diamond engagement ring by state. Now I don’t know how accurate the numbers are, but I suppose that this is as good a place to start as any, there is also this study provided by The Knot which states that the average cost of a diamond engagement ring in the United States is $5,855.00
Note that the cost of marrying yours truly is quite a bit higher, but that may or may not be relative to the discussion at hand. It seems to me that you should not worry about what the average cost of a diamond engagement ring is in your state, or throughout the country, because you should only spend what you are comfortable and capable of spending, and High Performance Diamonds has high quality diamonds by Crafted by Infinity in practically every price range in a wide range of carat weight, color, and clarity.
